Duplicate Content Checker.
Compare any two URLs, see exactly where the copy overlaps and know whether your page is distinct enough to stand on its own.
The SEORankUp Duplicate Content Checker fetches two live pages, extracts the real body copy, highlights the passages that are closest between them and calculates an overall duplicate risk score. No guessing. No vague similarity percentages with nothing to back them up.
- Side-by-side URL comparison
- Highlighted overlapping passages
- Phrase overlap and risk scoring
- Organised inside your SEO projects
What the checker actually measures
Three distinct signals combine into a single duplicate risk score — giving you more signal than a raw similarity percentage and a clearer picture of what needs fixing.
What you get in the results
The output is designed to take you from "I think these pages might be too similar" to "here is exactly what to rewrite and why" in one pass.
Clear risk verdict
A single overall score and a plain-English verdict so you can triage quickly across multiple pairs.
- 0–100 duplicate risk score
- Pass / Review / High Risk / Likely Duplicate
- Summary sentence for each result
- Checked and reference word counts
Three-metric breakdown
See phrase overlap, sequence similarity and matched coverage separately so you know which type of duplication is driving the score.

Highlighted copy review
The full body copy of the checked page is displayed with the overlapping passages highlighted inline, colour-coded by severity.

Built to solve a real SEO problem
Duplicate content is one of the most common causes of canoncialisation problems and wasted crawl budget. This tool makes it fast to check and easy to explain.
From two URLs to a clear answer in seconds
Paste the page you want to check and the page you want to compare it against. The checker fetches both live, strips out navigation, footers and noise, extracts the real body copy and runs the comparison automatically.
When to use it
Any time two pages might be too close for comfort — whether that is your own content or a competitor comparison.
-
1New page vs existing page Check a page you have just written against an existing one before publishing to catch overlap early.
-
2Category page vs product or service page A common source of canoncialisation issues — confirm the pages are genuinely distinct.
-
3Multiple location or service variants Location pages and service variants that share a template often drift into near-identical copy territory.
-
4Post-migration content audit After a site migration or CMS change, check that redirected or consolidated pages did not introduce new duplication.
How it works
Three steps from question to answer.
Enter two live URLs
Paste the page you want to check and the reference page to compare it against. Optionally assign the check to a project to keep results organised.
Review the score and highlights
See the overall duplicate risk score, the three underlying metrics and the full body copy of the checked page with overlapping passages highlighted inline.
Rewrite with confidence
Use the issue navigator to jump straight to the most similar passages and the guidance cards to understand what to prioritise. No back-and-forth between tools.
Without a proper duplicate content check
- You publish similar pages and only notice the problem when rankings stall
- Guessing which sections overlap wastes time and misses the real issues
- Clients ask why two pages are so similar and you have no clear answer
- Location and service page variants quietly cannibalise each other
With the SEORankUp Duplicate Content Checker
- Catch duplicate risk before a page goes live or before a client review
- See exactly which passages need rewriting, not just a vague similarity score
- Explain the issue clearly with a risk score and highlighted copy to back it up
- Keep checks organised inside projects alongside your other SEO work

Frequently asked questions
Common questions before you run your first duplicate content check.
How does the duplicate risk score work?
It combines three signals — phrase overlap, sequence similarity and matched passage coverage — into a weighted 0–100 score. Each signal measures a different type of duplication so the result is more reliable than a single similarity percentage.
Does it fetch the live page or use a cached version?
It fetches both pages live at the time you run the check, following redirects and using realistic browser headers. This means the result reflects the page as it is right now, not a crawled snapshot from weeks ago.
How does the highlighting work?
After extracting the real body copy from both pages, the tool identifies up to 12 passages in the checked page that closely match content on the reference page. Each is highlighted inline with its similarity percentage and a danger or warning colour code based on severity.
What score counts as a problem?
Anything over 35 is worth reviewing. Scores of 60 or above indicate a strong duplicate content risk. Scores of 80 or above suggest the pages are likely to be treated as duplicates by search engines. The verdict label makes this clear without needing to memorise thresholds.
Can I check competitor pages?
Yes. You can compare any two publicly accessible URLs. The tool is equally useful for checking your own pages against each other, reviewing content against a competitor or confirming syndicated content is still distinct enough to index separately.
Are results saved?
Yes. Every check you run is saved to your account and can be assigned to a project. This makes it easy to track duplicate content work across a site over time and keep it connected to your wider SEO workflow.
